Use Less Paper, Paperless.

It is important to address the obvious about our digital magazine...we no longer kill trees to entertain our readers. There is something inherently wrong touting the beauty, serenity and majesty of our houseboating destinations and then destroying trees to produce paper to tell the story. We think we should all take a second look on how we are personally taking care of our playgrounds.
We are realists. We know that most trees now grown for paper are a renewable product. We do believe in managed forests and believe that trees should be harvested in a careful and thoughtful manner. But there is a bigger picture. Magazines made of paper have inks and coatings applied to their surfaces turning most into inherently toxic transfer vehicles. Paper also weighs a lot. So it is expensive to ship and we all know how environmentally friendly big trucks are. It is just a big, dirty snowball that I think is too obvious to ignore and too wasteful to condone.

So we do not. We also happen to believe our new digital format is quite a bit more fun to read and interact with. It is not as passive as paper and as your discovering and it will get better as we all learn what we can really do in the digital arena. You will already see that we have sound, animation, ads and editorial coming to life right on the page. Our digital format is the best of a magazine, with a touch of sound, animation and video to make it even more entertaining.
